Publication accompanying the exhibition at the Haags Gemeeentemuseum on glass designer A.D. Copier (1901-1991) and Italian glass artist Lino Tagliapietra (1934), two decisive figures in the art of glassmaking and design in the twentieth century. Although Copier and Tagliapietra are a whole generation apart, the difference in age became irrelevant in the close relationship that developed between them. For the Dutch glass designer, the chance of working with a technically highly skilled glassmaker like Tagliapietra offered a range of new possibilities. For the Italian glassmaker, the encounter with Copier led to a definitive switch from glassmaker to glassmaker/ designer.
